The Garden

Yesterday I visited one of my friends' mother.  She is just a wonderful lady.  It had been a while since I visited and wanted to see her lovely new home.  I also had an ulterior motive of getting some of the gorgeous plants she has in her growing garden. She had mentioned she was thining things out and putting them in a compost pile.  I asked if I could have some, as I would love to have some of her flowers in my starter garden, and she said yes.  I keep trying to grow a flower garden each year.  My hubby cleared a spot for me that resembles a small baseball diamond a couple of years ago.  It really was supposed to be circular, but didn't quite make it.  It is nice just the way it is. I have a lovely arbor he bought me one year for my birthday in the center with a rosebush underneath.  I transplanted the plants after church, with my youngest's help.  It was getting dark, but he was excited to be out there.  We can't wait until next spring when the new plants start to spread and we get to place them in other places to make the little garden even nicer.
I didn't really think about this until now... there seems to be an order to theses posts so far...The beginning, the garden, spreading fire and spreading seed.  Hmmm.  Maybe I'm listening closer than I thought.

The beginning

First, I “lit a fire” under three boys to get stuff started and well, just done.  Second, Mama needs her own fire lit to get some things accomplished too.   Some accountability might do the trick from the basics and on to more in depth things, from housecleaning, to finishing projects that are started, to studying up on my chronological Bible.  You know the kind that is written in order of historical events and then broken down to read daily so that you can have it read by the end of the year?  Yeah, well I blew that!  I’m way behind, but trying hard.  So, to light another kind of fire, I started this.  We’ll see where it goes.  I have returned from our annual Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Ministry Convention and am always inspired afterwards.  This year, I’m trying to listen to the theme, Show Me Your Ways.  Social Media was one of our breakout sessions and it kind of grabbed me.  I have always thought about doing this, so why not give it a run!  My BFF suggested the title to me after a comment on her blog I made about Miranda Lambert’s  songs.  (Kerosene and Gun Powder and Lead…see, fire songs, thus the “lit a fire”)  So with a mix of things I like, love and learn, let’s get this fire started!  Maybe something wonderful will spread!
Oh, and in case of confusion, I really like Miranda’s songs, a lot!
